That, fortunately, appears to not be the case. The new look isn’t much of a surprise, but I’ve had one concern since the Pixel 6’s debut: Would Google employ its cutting-edge Tensor processor? Past A-series phones have typically utilized chips that were considerably less powerful than their flagship counterparts (the Pixel 5a is an odd exception, as the Pixel 5 opted for a higher-end CPU).

Google may release new earbuds at launch time, who knows? Google Tensor will power it. The Pixel Buds A-Series, on the other hand, are fantastic. The Pixel 6a’s renders don’t include a headphone jack, which is sad for those who like their wired headphones.Īlthough it’s a little ironic considering Google just released an excellent commercial about the headphone jack on the Pixel 5a, it isn’t really all that surprising if Google had truly believed the audio jack was coming back, there would have been one on the Pixel 6. It’s conceivable that the Pixel 6 will include a fingerprint sensor in the power button, but said button appears to be too restricted in the renderings.

That’s not great, considering the fingerprint reader on the Pixel 6 is perhaps its weakest feature - it’s annoyingly slow and unreliable, though a recent update has improved things somewhat. Despite being a low-cost phone, there does not appear to be an external fingerprint reader, suggesting that Google will utilize another under-the-display module instead.

Based on this image, it would be difficult to tell the Pixel 6 from the standard Pixel 6 (the Pixel 6 Pro has rounded edges). It seems that Google is planning to use a vertically mounted rear camera. It’ll most likely have an under-display fingerprint sensor. I just hope they bring back the fabric covers, to be honest. It’s a significant shift in design direction if you ask me Google is finally developing a hardware style that seems distinct rather than a mishmash of the aesthetics of various manufacturers.

For those who want tiny phones, this is good news. It’s also a little shorter than the Pixel 5a, approaching the tiny Pixel 5. The Pixel 6a is expected to be approximately 9 percent smaller than the Pixel 6 (158.6 x 74.8 x 8.90 mm) and Pixel 6 Pro (163.9 x 75.9 x 8.9 mm). There are also two camera lenses and a flash visible in the render, as well as an opening for the selfie camera.

OnLeaks’ renders show a smartphone that looks eerily similar to the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, with a large camera bar instead of the aforementioned camera squircle. The Pixel 6 departed from the previous Pixel’s design, and the Pixel 6a appears to follow in its footsteps. According to what we (think we) know so far, the Pixel 6a appears to be a really attractive budget smartphone. Despite the fact that Google’s Pixel line is now in its sixth year, rumors and leaks about the Pixel 6a have already started.
